Picked up a DVD of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" yesterday, modeled Gort in Bryce 5 early this morning, rendered it this morning. Postwork in Photoshop Elements.
I was going to change the background texture because it's a Bryce preset, but decided it looked really good with Gort, so I left it alone. I got the "silver paint" texture for Gort by turning on Blurry Reflections with the polished silver preset.
The movie was released in 1951, and is arguably the first true Science Fiction film (most were standard "bug-eyed monster" movies, where Earth people were heroes. Not this one.)

An excellent design and super artwork in my opinion! The background is smashing... even if it is a Bryce preset... I don't think you could have done better in the DTE... the minimalist quality appeals to me and... funny ebough... I would even hang this on my wall! :)

Fantastic metaball modelling! They're pesky little critters, can be hard to control. Love the texture.

This one's in my DVD collection too. A classic with a great message that still holds up today. Great model.

I love that film and I don't think you've done too bad a job on modelling the robot. Thanks for bringing back good memories John and no one is too old or too young to enjoy a good movie. 8)
