I agree, I think this surfacing is better. I still the the water is a little too transparent though

i love the surface in the first one more. this is like sand, the other was like stone. and i love stone. ;-) and in this image, i can't see so much details. but also an excellent work.

I like the balance of surface colors on this one a lot. To bring out surface detail, many of us might bring in the lighting at a low angel to reveal the terrain texture. But the somewhat harsh direct light here gives a hard look to the terrain, which gives the desolate mood I think you are going for here. Super work!!!
