Now... that is perfection. I spent 5 minutes to spot something that confirm it's not a very well done photo, and i think i found a clue... Other than the 'stand' being too 'clean' to be true, the small tang at the beginning of the metric tape is different from the (real) one i got! (man that was really a difficult call). And, after looking at it for other five minutes, the reflections in the metal are too perfect, so perfect than they seem to improve the texture of the grey surfaces (hyper realistic raytracer!). Amazing work! Now please tell me that is really not a photo ;)

hi invicta .....well i too am a max user and into realism at the moment if you look at my gallery....and as stemardue said the only fault i can see is the same fault i always seem to have and get comments about is that my chrome work is to clean and perfect...which is a real pain as i hate creating dirt maps ...i tried to create a fingerprint on my last pieace of chrome work but to be blunt it turned out crap as its very hard to get a decent finger print image and mask.....other than that this is a awsome render with great realism well done

Thanks for your comments and rankings, both! Plague, I have the exactly same problem you do - I also hate creating dirt maps. :) I did create a scratch-mask for this, but same as your fingerprint, it turned out horrible. Much better without it. But you both are absolutely right about the reflections, they are way too clean. I'll see if I can do something about it, maybe I'll work some more on the scratch-mask .. ..Thanks again!

This absolutely fantastic example of modeling mastery deserves so many more comments than it has at the moment. I don't think many people actually appreciate the amount of hard work that has obviously gone into creating this. It has to be one of the most photorealistic renderings of a model that I have seen on this site. EXCELLENT work mate.

I wouldn't even worry about a dirt mask. The ribbed sections down the middle take care of that for me,there appears to be alittle grime inbetween them. The only thing that catches my eye is,how bright the reflections are for what appears to be an interior scene. But EXCELLENT WORK all the way!

sigh It's images like these that make me sad and realize that I have a far, far, FAR way to go before any of my work can look anywhere near as submarginally mediocre compared to this =). Excellent work!
