Description

A day to remember, a moment in time that has changed our world and touched our lives in such a horrible way, but still we stand, together, for the most part. May God bless you and your families and keep them out of harms way. Peace be with you, but never forget that freedom isn't free.

I dont mean to sound cynical. OK i understand the impact of 911 and all. 3000 + lives were lost due to an unfortunate chain of events. But... Over 11,000 people have been slaughtered in Iraq in the last year... and? what no sympathy for them? Lets pray nothing like this happens again.

...and who remembers the 800,000 massacred in Ruwanda several years ago? And the 2 million in Cambodia? It's happening again in the Sudan right now. I don't dispute the awesome tragedy of 9/11, but we should try to put it in a global perspective. Let's strive for peace and justice, for everyone...

I understand the numbers all too well. It's not the number of those who died. Like the children in Beslan, those who perished were people who were living their lives. The attacks were unprovoked, unexpected and unexplained. Such acts leave deep wounds in all people. Part of the fight is healing. The survivors seek reasons and reassurance. The nature of the attacks provides neither, and the wounds are still not healed.

wow..tough crowd today Steve...I turned on the TV this morning to see hundreds gathered at the twin tower site as they read the names of the victims again and come together to remember them. On the other hand, it is the media that brings the attention of the world's pains and victims to our tv and newspapers to remind us...some victims never get their 20 minutes of media fame...big sigh for all...but God knows the names of them all... As a brother in Christ to you all, (and an English-man,) I can sympathise with these sentiments. This is a very emotive subject, and I would like to congratulate you Steve on your sensitive and thought provoking tribute to the families and friends of those who tragically lost their lives. You have, ( I feel, ) "hit the nail on the head" with this image. Our Lord will have welcomed many thousands into his kingdom today, yesterday and every day! I do not wish to give the impression of making my comments too light or too heavy, especially when I am really only here to comment on your image, however, you have stated the pure truth of the matter... thank you!!

Well...you know I had to comment on this one Steve. First of all, your artwork is excellent and very compassionate. Secondly, for those who think we don't think about the others in the world who are or have undergone so much tragedy...one does not cancel out the other. We can have sympathy and tributes for all of them. Why is it assumed that we don't think about these things? I don't understand why this comes up every year on this anniversary. The USA has always had days dedicated and tributes to our fallen men and women throughout the years and throughout this Country. It's time to let this go and let us honor these men and women who gave their lives for so many. Its's time to remember all the volunteers, Firemen, Policemen, and Medical personnel, and as far as I know, there is no time limit on grief or rememberances. Have a wonderful day and God Bless You All!...Cheryl
