Description

(Kodak DX6490) At the end of third century AD, the Roman Emperor Diocletian built his Palace on the bay of Aspalathos (Greek name for Split - Croatia)...This palace is today the heart of the inner-city of Split where all the most important historical buildings can be found... Walking through narrow and picturesque streets in Palace scenes like this are very common! Thank you for viewing and for your kind comments on my last photo "Lazy afternoon"!

Wonderful lighting and composition. I would imagine that there are some places in this part of the city that never have direct sunlight. A most interesting photo!

Cool POV, now this is one sure way to get a sore neck. Standing there I would feel like King somebody and say something along these lines "man I got it made in the shade" and then they would hang me. Why you may ask (and then again maybe you won't) they just didn't talk that way in the 3rd century. The Rolling Stones hadn't arrived yet! Cool. it's OK to say that now! LOVE THE SHOT!

It is a place I can only understand in biblical terms. I look at it through the eyepiece given by,"They dwelled in houses they did not build and harvested crops they did not plant." This is not about gay divorcees but a people who has just conquered their promissed land. Here in America the heritage is relatively new.
