Description
This sketch of Miles Davis was done from an historic photo, name of original photographer is unknown to me. My original sketch was in traditional charcoal on Mi Tientes paper, however This is a digital painting file. I am interested in any comments on the history of Jazz.

Awesome pic, Miles Davis is one of my favorite musicians. I enjoy a lot of his work and have 3 or 4 of his albums, including one of his jazz-fussion releases. I was under the understanding, however, that jazz got it's real big start from an American colored regimental band playing in France at the end of WWI. Jazz does have roots in the cultures you mentioned and still continues to draw from them, but didn't really become 'Jazz' until the beginning of last century. That's my understanding of it. Great piece of art.
