Description
Juvenile Brown Widow
I wish it was apparent how impossibly small this spider is, that way the image would seem much more impressive. I cropped the image down because the legs are very long and I wanted you to see some detail on the body.
I have been getting some crazy close-ups lately because I duct-taped an old zoom attachment from my Canon G3 to my macro lens.

If you say they had long legs probably it was a Banana Spider.;)
Quikp51
I've seen a Banan Spider and this ain't one of them. I must theorize though since it's got a high visibility colored marking on it that it's advertising toxic venom.

Well I dont know, I mean at first I want to say Black Widow, cause of the hourglass. But if it was,she would have black legs, now if its as small as you say,and with long legs compared to the body, then maybe the male has an hourglass as well. I never have seen a male Black Widow,so dont know, but thats my best guess for this one. Excellent photo by the way

To Apophis - I have a posting of a male Black Widow from not too long ago. This is not a Black-Widow...that I am quite sure of. Thanks for the input.

Since I'm not a bug geek like you, I don't really care what kind of spider that is :D All I know is I love it and it's an awesome macro - I've been wondering how you took all those brilliant close-ups, guess the duct-taped G3 zoom explains it :))

Thought I might revise my post.... Picture is good, I have seen most of your photos... And to be honest, they scare the shit out of me lol. And after researching this spider, I suddenly feel very jumpy after looking at 100s of pictures of spiders :) Anyways, again, looks like a brown widow. Check out this website http://www.rochedalss.eq.edu.au/spiderphotos.htm it has a picture of one, looks very similiar.

Thanks so much for Identifying this for me VegiDog!!! I live in Canada for crying out loud! Why was this in my house? I guess if we get Black Widows we should get these to. Although I live in the only place in the whole country that has Black Widows.
