Description
After an extended hiatus (and yet another major computer crash), I've finally gotten back into the swing of things.
This piece started out as a simple experiment with Poser dynamic hair. I wanted to see if I could simulate the very fine hairs on the backs of hands and arms. It took a bit of tweaking, but I finally got something that looked about right. Anyway, please C&C this. I'd really like some constructive criticism. What could I do to improve it. I'm not totally happy with the color of the nail polish, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Poser 5, Reiss Body Studio, 3ds Max 5.1, Brazil r/s (using a single skylight). No post work.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING... !!!!!!!

I love the hairs you created! Adds such a touch of realism to his hand! Now, can you add some light blonde hairs on the woman's arm? Her polish color is fine btw. Nice work - excellent idea!!!

Looks very good indeed. I think your problem with the nails is that they need a bit more specular highlight. Even on the unpolished nails you'll want a little bit. I'm not too familiar with Brazil, but I'm sure it does specular. Question: How do you get Brazil r/s to render larger that 512?

Well, all that I can say is that you have a hell of a lot more patience than I have...this work must have taken ages!!! The male hair looks ok to me, and yeah, some blond 'lady' hairs would have been good. The nail polish just needs some sheen!!! Cheers! Alan.

Thanks for all of the comments so far. Webmaster421: I'm working on hair for her arm right now. EvoShandor: I agree the problem is with the specular. I've tried tweaking the settings, but I think the problem is using the skylight. I may have to use a reflection map to get the results I want. As for Brazil, I've purchased the full version, so I don't have the same limitations that the free version has.

Great Work! Really Awesome Textures! The Only Crit I Can Think Of Is Just Work On The Nails A Bit More Get Them Detailed! lol But Other Than That, Fantastic! 8)

great render if u look at my gallery u will see i too am into creating realism renders....if it was me i would keep the GI lighting for the scene but also use HDRI as an environment lighting and add a raytrace material to the nails this would give you a very real looking sheen and reflection on the nails ut not affect the rest of the scene ;-)

excellent, but you should add some bump mapping and bump shadow to enhance the realism

Fantastic render. The upper hand appears slightly more realistic than the lower. Might be the nails. In maya there is a dirtmap shader to help with this stuff - not sure if it's in 3ds, but might help. Needs some spec.

The pic is great. Both hands are detailed and textured perfectly and the hair is awesome. I actually think the female nail color is very realistic (I have nail polish that creates just that sort of effect on my toes at this moment,) however, the only thing I would suggest would be to make the female nails about 20% smaller, as they look too large for the female form. Alomst as if she is wearing press-ons. Other than that, the pic is superb.

The best P5 hair I've ever seen. I'd prefer more gloss on her nails.

urm - i have a bit of a problem being convinced by the texture of the wrinkles of the joints on both hands... did you put a bump map on there? also the man's nails dont seem to have any depth/shape - they just seem to be drawn on, especially the thumb. apart from those two points well done! ;)
