Description

Although a spider looks like an insect, it is not. Spiders have 8 legs whereas the insects have 6. Spiders do not have the feelers and wings which the insects have. An insects body is divided into 3 distinct parts, head, thorax and abdomen whereas spider's body has only two parts combined head and thorax and the abdomen. Infact Spiders belong to a diffrent group of animals called " arachnids'' which also includes mites, ticks, scorpions, etc., This peice of information was provided to me by my son Sahil as I was about to post this Spidy. I really liked the relative comparison and his enthusiasm in sharing it with me and timelyness of it. ;) Hope you enjoy this one. Thanks for your comments etc., :o)) SNAKEY

Yeah it is hard to put them into a particular group maybe land invertabrates... Arachnids evolved about 500 million years ago. That's about 50,000 times longer than humans have been on earth.

Don't forget that some insects have 4 leggs. And they are many groups of insects, some have 130 leggs ! But I agree with you, crabs and shrimps are not insects but they look so close to spiders. I have shoot a long legg yesterday but not so beautiful as yours... A great shot Raj !
