Description

Araneus Diadematus, better knows as "Garden Spider" (Kruisspin in Dutch). Lately my garden (well the green strips lining the pavement) are inhabited with flocks of these cool looking spiders. Usually I don't see them this big, but these 2 caught my eye from accross the garden and I just had to take a few pics. The one on the right was the biggest at 1 3/4 inch (including the legs). His brother wasn't all that much smaller at 1 1/2 inch. Compared to the usual size of 3/4 inch, they were enormous :) Totally harmless to humans and they keep the flying insects around here down. I just love these arachnids.
