Description

I need your help! This terrain is 'moJodes' I downloaded from hillrunner's site. Thank you Olivier. This is the problem: Upon completion of the image, I rendered the picture at 6000 x 4500 with quality settings set at maximum (including 'Ultra' and 'Pixel Smoothing'). The upper 20% of the picture would not render. I then tried rendering at 4000 x 3000 and encountered the same problem. Next, I tried the 4000 x 3000 render without high quality settings and again, experienced the same problem. Finally, I rendered the image at 1024 x 768 with all high quality settings and saved it as a .bmp. Then, I opened the .bmp and increased the DPI to 300 and sharpened it by 10% and saved it as a .jpg. The problem with this size is that I lost about 10% of the lower part of the picture. Have any of you experienced this problem? Does anyone have a remedy for this issue? Thank for visiting; and, for your comments and suggestions.

yes! I experienced the same problems very often...I think it's the slow processing and memory lack of my pc... notwithstanding, your terragen landscape is one of the vey best and finest I've sen for a long! many thanks for sharing and showing, despite all troubles with rendring! :))

I had this problem with very high POV (about 800m and more) and sometimes increasing the sky helps, but it doesn't succeed each time :( Beautiful lighting here !

Really awesome image Bob, yeppers had that problem myself, asked here and got the same response as you are now. I have way more than enough memory, so don't think it is that. I think it is a coding problem within Terragen.

I had the same problems with some mojo exported files, and I tried to lower the terrain ( for example, ajust the level from low=0 and high=3000 to low=-1500 and high = 1500 ). It's sometime works fine. Very great image btw.

I had the same problem : keep the "Fixed Height Above Surface" value and low the pitch value. The upper black trail will disappear. I like a lot the foreground surfaces!

excellent terrain! The surface is a bit strange for my taste, but is a very good image!

I had the same problem with another Mojo terrain, Cerrox. I was usig 3D clouds, and had this huge cloud on the tip of the terrain, and the upper part of the sky, above the cloud wouldn't render.Had to crop the image to post it. XLT render, btw!

The upper 20% of the picture would not render? Try to add 20% to the height next time. Fantastic colors.

I love the terrain and the atmo is top notch as always. I have read of this problem in the Forum but cannot remember if any definitive answer was ever suggested or agreed to. It happened twice to me and then went away as mysteriously. (shrugs)

You know I had many problems of my computer locking up at the higher render sizes...the fault message always pointed to SoPak. I know the upper 20% of your picture is atmo but if you used textures and they rendered first, then SoPak may be the problem. Still, this is an excellent render and almost begs the question...are the super high render sizes and the time it takes to render them really worth it?

I have yet to experience that problem Bob. But I think some of the veterans are probably right. Sounds like it could be a bug. Anyway you found a way to compensate & pulled a great render out of it! Have you e-mailed any of the Terragen techs? They have answered many of my questions in the past. The Forum is also very helpful.
