Description

A long time I haven't uploaded a picture here. I was working on a short animation. The Tempest model made by me with AMAPI 7. This picture is a lighting test ... A 250 lights sphere surrounding the plane to fake a global illumination ... I have started a short movie too ... every second needs an hour of rendering with Vue Pro.. it's a long long time... I have tried many things : camera movement, Hybrid 2.5 motion blur vs Raytraced, alpha plane backgrounds vs procedural clouds.. It's a 25 frames/sec DIVX/AVI. You can download it here : http://www.paroge.com/vde/tempest/ Not finished yet ... I think I will rework the whole movie ... but I have learned many things ... Bye

Think your .avi fantastic, would have avoided the light array thing, sounds like bad news in an animation situation (god knows what the drag on render times must have been) maybe you can't do soft shadows in Vue too well, I don't know, but very slick all the same

The animation and soundtrack are fantastic!!! Where did you get the sound, and how did you synch it to the animation? Did you create the audio track(s) first and then generate the animation?

Some of the basic sounds came from http://www.findsounds.com/. But most of the information about the Tempest are from The Hawker Tempest Page http://user.tninet.se/~ytm843e/tempest.htm. This is where I found the blueprints for my model, informations about marking and coloring and many sounds. For some scenes (takeoff, flyby, ..), I started with an original sound and have then created the animation following the timing of the sound. In other cases, I have created the animation first and then mixed some basic sounds using Audacity, a small but powerful freeware. All the movie was finally mixed in VirtualDub, (another freeware :-) ) so I can finally obtain a compressed DIVX.
