Description

This is a photo of Bolam Lake, in Northumberland, taken yesterday. The autumn colours are just beginning to appear, and it was lovely walking all the way round the lake. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The lake was created in 1816-1818 as part of the grounds of Bolam Hall. It is said the work was carried out 'to give employment to the poor, in the scarce, disastrous winters of 1816 and 1817.' It now forms part of a lovely country park with fishing, canoeing, etc. There are also rumours of the "Bolam Beast", an 8 foot tall yeti, but there weren't any signs of him yesterday! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thank you for looking, and for any comments, I really appreciate it.
