This is a very nice image Keith, in which your mastery of the form is evident. Personally I find the Barnsley belt disturbing--it is of a completely different character than the spiral behind and seems incongruous--"neither this nor that" as the Sufis would say...

I agree with Toby about the "belt"..would like to see more of the spiral on the sphere. I love the atmosphere (superb lighting) and turbulent forms and overall flow..and the spiralled sky is fresh and awesome. Evocative and excellent work.

on one hand there right about these differances. I also see a gostship sailing in the distance behind these stylish (disturbing)waves, its a way of interpret and phantasise. I like it to see it this way, a phantastic creation. RS

Although I would love to see this without the belt, I love it as it is, too. Apart from the jewel of a sphere, the background is a work of art on its own. Thank you for the inspiration, Keith :)

I think it looks fantastic. Since I don't have UF, then I don't know all that stuff about the 'belt.' It looks refreshingly different, and I enjoy everything you've done here. Very nice work! V (:

Well, I see a fantasy world being held together by a beautiful force of power, suspended between two firmaments of seething oceans and solidified sky. What belt? **

Fantastic lighting!! love the effect with the 'sky' and the flow beneath. The interweaving does look like it's containing a whole other element in there, I like the touch:).

I'm intrigued by the folds which seem to be opening up the globe to reveal an inner fragility. The circle of spirals have the effect of an outer defense against revealing too much... as though a battle of wills is ongoing in a soft and beautiful hiding place. The lighting is wonderful, and that glow behind the ball is an awesome touch! This image commands some sustained gazing time. Amazing work, Keith! :)

I like the belt. It looks like a ship on storm tossed waves. The comp reminds me of wonderous things being washed up on the beach after a storm...the orb nestled in the sand, with a hint of wave just receding. Storm clouds still skudding across the sky....Memories of the ship caputed within the orb. Superb!
