Description

Dear friends. Thank You for Your interest and advice concerning thumbnails style. It's always great to recieve feedback. One of the main advantages of any community is that people can exchange their opinions\likes\dislikes etc. So at first I followed Your advice... But the 6-hrs experiment result was as follows: - 30 people viewed the shot, - 3 people commented on it; when I had "BBB" (big brown buttons) instead of regular thumbnails for images of the same artistic\technical quality the numbers were 2 - 4 times higher... Not the thumbnail quality is to blaim (I tried two different variants, different from my latest brown-button-style), neither the picture quality\technique level). The thumbnail style is the very reason! As artfan put it, thumbnail creation is a certain serious art itself. I haven't mastered it yet. Perhaps it is more essential for web-designers (I'm not the one). So the experiment proved that: a) the thumbnail alters the visitor's intentions b) more informative thumbnail doesn't invoke more views\visitors\comments. I have to return to my BBBs... Sorry for inconvenience, I'll do my best not to disappoint You with the pictures artistic\technical quality :-) Hope You forgive me ;-) Sincerely Yours, -Anthony.

Oh yeh I see it's a certain art itself to make an attractive, informative and intriguing thumb. Your shots can be without any thumb - as I noticed many people are sure that there is something beautiful if the "pontigary" signature is present and constantly open your thumbs whatever they are. And that is enough. Just be recognizable so tosay! This capture is nmarvelous. Like the blue night light - fantastic.

I am very impressed also...the deep blue contrast with the golden colors of the flower is remarkably well 'cooked'. Congrats. This work has a wonderfully regal feeling to it as if the flower was a golden brooch on a monarch's blue velvet gown. VOTE

A beautiful photo. As for me, I don't care whether there is a thumbnail image or not. I try to look at all photos. However, I tend to comment on artists whose work I am familiar with.

Very elegant and lovely compo! Concerning the thumb you are right - i must confess that missed that pic (got used to your BBB as you call it). don't think one should pay too much attention to thumbs. anyway it's impossible to view all the works unfortunatelly.

Unique beauty! Adorable and romantic. Don't think thumbs are essential at all btw... and don't deserve to be discussedadvised. It's a matter of taste or webdevelopers' forum

Exceptional capture. The warm orange flower tones against cold night light make the overall composition more expressive

Hmmm i regularly skip images without thumbnail or with a 'noninformative thumbnail' as you put it. Mostly because of a lack of time or just because i dont feel like checking out wether its something good. I would say use informative thumbs and if people like your work theyll come. Only thing why you get more views with a noninformative thumb is because people are curious, and more viewers means more comments... but keep in mind that they might not have commented because they particulary like your work but, in part, well cos theyre there... Enough rambling for now hehe ;o) I really like your style and the quality of your images, youve done an wonderful job here again !! Excellent work !!
