Description

Hi Everyone. I would really appreciate some constructive crtisim on this image if anyone has time. Since I'm new to posting (been reading and looking for while now) on this community I guess I should offer a little explanation about myself. I am an industrial designer and spend a lot of my day creating photo-real images of various concepts using 3D CAD apps. I love doing this, but grew up spending a lot of my childhood painting in acrylics (realism) and have missed it. It's really stress relieving for me to come home from work and create without having to worry if every little detail follows along with real world physics. Over the past couple of years I've really grown to love abstract art so I thought I'd try my hand, so to speak, and creating digital abstact art. This is my 4th abstract painting (the only one I'm not embarrased for others to see!) and wanted to get your thoughts on it since the abstract world is new for me. So, I hope that this image inspires someone out there or at the least hasn't wasted anyone's time. Cheers to you all!

No posting is a waste of time! Thank you for joining us and jumping into the deep end of the pool, so to speak. I like the play of textures, smooth vs. man-made. It's VERY difficult to comment on abstract work, but my one critique is that the numbers "123" don't really add to the strength of the composition. By using a single gold element in the center (it looks like an autumn leaf to me), you seem to want to draw my eyes to it. However, isolating those numbers in a large area of white also draws my attention to that corner. Im left dividing my attention between the two, never really knowing what I want to look at, and thus, really looking at nothing. Try deleting the numbers or moving them to the upper right corner, and stylize them more. Anyway, hope thats the kind of input youre looking for, and welcome to Renderosity!

Hi mmitchell and THANK YOU for the welcome! I'm not sure if I'm supposed to respond to your comments here, or click on you name?? And yes, those were the types of comments that I was after. The reasoning behind the #'s is all in the name, "Order in the Chaos". Simply put, the numbers provide an order to the chaotic nature of the image, which is my take on life so to speak -- everyone has something that brings an order to their otherwise stressfull and chaotic daily lives. However, your points are very good, I really didn't intend to create tension in the piece. I plan on doing several versions of this, so I'll definitly keep your comments in mind for the future -- thanks again!

Tnx for sharing -- it has good compositional features. But what I love in this is the texture. Bravo!
