Description
VUE 5. No postwork except a little global bluring. The car model from www.3dm-mc.com modified and textured by me. The very hires HDRI file from www.sachform.de. Some discussion during last weeks about using alpha planes as Vue pictures background... and now probably some threads about using HDRI environement with Vue 5 ... (HDRI with ground map and radiosity) ...

WHAT? This is not a photo? Don't tell no shit... oh, I've seen the hdri file. I do not understand the technology, but I am stunned.

Brrrrrr....effectively nostalgic. Love the yellow against the austere background. Great atmosphere.

Yes Ona ... I'm stunned myself. The HDRI file give a whole environement for the scene. I was lucky to find a nice plane in this 'world' to place my model. The most difficult thing was to tune all the colors and lighting parameters to achieved a realistic blending of the model in the background... With this kind of technology, Vue is now competitive with all high end renderer ... :-)

Hi Patrick, welcome to you! Another masterpiece... this time with a new technology. I think that it will be hard to be governed, therefore we need of masters as you for this. Bravo as usual!

Cool, Patrick; I"ve been playing with the environment mapping a bit myself, don't really understand a lot about the hdri, but it's cool to play with.

Very nice work. I have nothing against alpha planes either. I can get the hdr image onto an alpha plane but can not get it on a ground plane. Is there a special way to do this. I am hoping there will be some basic tutorials for some the new features that are in Vue 5.
Sprryte
This is really incredible - and I certainly have no qualms about using alphas or HDRI - (thought I certainly don't understand it yet! ALL i know is that i'm on pins and needles waiting for it (Vue 5) to arrive! Most especially after seeing images like this one! Thank you for sharing this incredible image!!!
BGHart
You are kidding - this is NOT a photo? Unbelievable work. Bravo!

May be some details about HDRI in VUE 5. HDRI environement is similar to alpha plane, but the picture is projected on an infinite sphere that surrounds the whole scene. You can rotate the camera in all direction, you see the landscape or environement.. with VUE 5, even the ground ... Then you can choose to automatically base your lighting on this picture. The result is a realistic ambient light.. The most difficult thing is the tuning of the sunlight and the textures enlightement parameters so the colours and luminosity are credible ... more about this technique here : http://www.debevec.org/

How it was done it irrelevant: it was created in Vue and the result looks great. Played a little with HDRI in Carrara. Can't wait to try it out in Vue 5.
