Description

It's a bit of a mystery to me Georges, these green shieldbugs. From the late summer until the winter-cold arrives, they just sit there on there "favourite" spot. Alone in pairs or little groups (adults and juveniles) they just seem to do nothing for days even weeks! Suddenly they disappear and then I find them on other spots where they do the same "thing" again. They only move when I come to close with my cyclope-camera-eye. They seem to enjoy the sun though! Eventually they all turn brown in winter and hibernate, although in soft winters you can spot a few sitting and sunning again. In spring they all turn green again and get red legs and antenna's for the mating-season. Greetings PapaGuru.

This is so beautiful mate...... I have never observed the insect life so closer before and thanks for all the details you provided. I also enjoy the element of mystery in your story... ;) A twist in the tale is always welcome. As for the shot...... well, the close up in the bottom shows that they not only tan in the sun but also wear sunglasses:P:P:P

There's still a lot to be discovered in this world! The secret life of bugs could be a very interesting series to be produced by someone like David Attenborough.... Excellent work, very crisp shots!
