Description

I was deeply sadden when I woke up on Monday morning and found out that the only person who personified Superman to his very fiber had passed. I was 9 years old when Superman, the Movie, hit theaters; eagerly awaiting the time when it would make it to a then fledgling movie channel named HBO. When it finally hit, I think I watched it about 20 times. I was in awe. I mean, if Superman were an actually human being, he would look just like Christopher Reeves. I've been collecting comics for over 20 years now. The heroes of both the DC and Marvel, as well as characters from the Chaos, Image, Dark Horse, Avatar, and Awesome universes are like parts of my extended family. I have seen many superhero movies. There have been many actors to play Batman and many actors to play a teenage Clark Kent. But only one actor will ever be the Man of Steel, in personification and in spirit. Nothing fancy here, just a small tribute with my two girls, Scarlet and Sister Rachel, paying homage to a great actor and a great human being, who, even though he himself stated that he was trying to "escape the cape" (escape being typecasted as Superman), was more of a hero to many of us than he realized. May you rest in peace. I just hope I don't have to do this type of thing soon again for the only person who will ever be Wonder Woman or the only person who will ever be Batman in my mind as well. And all of ya'll know what two people I am talking about.:(
