Description

Hello all! I often view the gallery to check out other peoples works. There are so many talented artists here. This piece I did a couple of years ago while in England.A friend I had there inspired me to create this helmet due to our mutual interest in military history. It is a "Ironside" helmet from the English Civil War 1642 era. I regret not using more polygons in this piece but I really didn't plan to use it that close up. I created it using LightWave as well as Paintshop Pro for the bump mapping.

very realistic model and great bumpmap. only thing I'd suggest is play with some diffuse and specularity changes on some areas, like it would in reality. unless this is a museum piece, where they usually polish everything shiny up anyway. Then it looks perfect. excellent job either way!

Beautifully done! Just in case you are taking requests, I'd also like to see a Spanish "Conquistador" helmet. One suggestion on the background and lighting, try for a red velvet sort of base with multiple soft light sources... very museum-esque (museum-ish?) Great stuff. Please post more!

This particular work of yours show a fine sense of detail. Not only that it shows that you can deliver what you set out to do. I don't really see that you needed more polygons to achieve the desired effect. Good work well done.
