Description

After spending some time with a Taos guide who showed those of us of assorted visitors and tourists allowed on the Pueblo grounds that day around a wee bit,( particularly as to areas that were restricted and not open to photography )we were allowed to walk about unescorted throughout the open areas of the pueblo..... This image is from across the small creek that runs down from the mountains through the grounds and effectively divides the two halves of the pueblo. Small, single person bridges are spaced every so often along the way.....Each side has adobe buildings that have been lived in continuously for a thousand years. Many of those in open areas have shops in their narrow front rooms selling various arts and crafts made on the site. Note the kiva..the oven to the left of the entry door... breads and pasteries are baked in these to this day. The curved steps along the side are used to hang and retrieve the ristras of chile pepers hanging in the sun to dry.....

excellent foto, but they must of got cable because I do not see any antenna for tv. I worked on a reservation of Pueblo for a couple of days, installing equipment. thanks for sharing

what doesn't come across is the sky. Crazy old painterly sky, close enough to touch and bigger than imagination. I'm soooo ready to get out of my studio, out of michigan. Always great pics, this one is no exception.
