Description

After enjoying all fountains in the park I turned to the castle. In the year 1878 The Bavarian "fairy-tale king" Ludwig II decided to make a replica of Versailles (near Paris, France) and it became world famous, but he only managed to build the central portion before funds ran out after 7 years of construction. (Cost: 16,5 mill. Mark) The Palace became an obsession for the king. He wanted, that it should be more splendid than Versailles, but only for himself! And he lives in his own world and dreams and got crazy. 1886 the king drowned in the "Starnberger Lake". Seems to be a suicide. Thanks for your visit and all comments!

We all have an obsession about something, that's the way Life goes, Rita, but always humility to research with! That poor guy had delusions of grandeur, and Splash ! The Shortgrey moral is smiles : It's better to be dead broke and keep one's head above water than to be wealthy and swallow a mouthful!! SUPERB Architecture, my friend, i Love it, thank you for sharin' such Beauties.....V....SG

This is an excellent capture my friend , very beautifully framed and presented. This obsession seems to be like the obsession of plenty...... u sometime go crazy when u have too much and have no clue how to spend it only to end being broke in the process. Poor king of the poor....;)
