Description
The ninth fruit of the Spirit is Temperance (Self Control).
Galatians 5:22-26 reads... 'the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
[These characteristics are of God and therefore outside the considerations of human created lawfulness and not conforming to the Law and Commandments of Moses] ...
and they that are Christ's have crucified [put to death by one's identification with Jesus] the flesh with the affections and lusts. [The observable evidence of a Spirit-born person is a change of internal motivating factors and a developing freedom from old personality defects, tormenting cravings and corrupt, unlawful behaviour]
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another...'
[Paul's encouragement to Christians to avoid 'grandstanding', petty debates and jealousies i.e. look how great 'Our' church is &c.]
I think this is another important message for today's modern church. Judge wisely.
