Description

We payed for a guided tour inside the castle. And can you imagine what I felt when hearing that it is FORBIDDEN to take pfotos!? hm...so I waited until our guide and all persons were gone into another room, turned around and *click*!!! I had to hurry and there was no chance to test the shot or the light, and there was no time for a second shot! This breathtaking designed and splendid State Staircase Hall is the first you see when entering. Marble statues of Roman gods and goddesses include Apollo, Diana, Minerva, Ceres and Flora. Wall paintings show young girls rejoicing and throwing flowers in honour of the King's arrival. Unlike the original at Versailles, this Staircase features an iron and glass ceiling, which gives the huge room a light and airy feeling. Dimension: 29.95m x 11.95m = 357.90m

WOW! What a beautiful entry room! And to have the courage to take the shot... and without checking out all the things I know photographers do for just the right capture. You and your camera are having a love affair. (and on my birthday, too! S)

Sometimes you just have to do it! Though you were probably seen by a camera somewhere...hidden among the delicate ornate surroundings!

I've had this photo in my screen saver file ever since you posted it. Not only is it a beautiful image...it illustrates the extreme ability of man to shower himself with luxury while others starve. Yes its true that the artisans that created this amazing work would not have had the opprotunity to do so without this lavish expenditure. But my heart tells me it is more a matter of misplaced priorities...and mans inhumanity to man. In the final analysis this is not a monument to art or the artisan...It exists solely to glorify wealth and those who possess it. I'll get down off my soapbox now...lol...truely an amazing image sossy

Wonderful! I have seen such castles (visiting Germany, Austria, etc) and was always dismayed when they said "no photographs," especially in Berlin. They want to sell their postcards, I suppose. Excellent shot even though it was taken on the sly!
