Description
Trailhead marker and white tree blaze signifying the Appalachian Trail in Southern Pennsylvania. I hiked a section for about 70 miles this trip. This was on Day 2 after a wicked rainstorm the night before and a beastly strenuous climb to Ridgehead Road.
May 2004
Taken with a Sony Digital camera, perhaps a different aperture on my SLR would give better depth of the trail, but I wasn't about to lug that thing around for miles and miles with all my other gear. The light makes the plain scene in this photo more remarkable - and the trail hits at the simple life of trailwalking.
