Actually, the mud-cracks are terrain features and not overlays at all! All surfaces are procedural.

Oh so fine! I like both excellent renders, but the top is my favorite- what a wonderful mystic mood you've created with the atmosphere and muted color. The ground cover is very cool.

The top avoids some issues in the stratification and the bottom then brings out a wet look that is new and tenuous.

My word! What masterful and wonderful images! They are both oustanding, but I think I have to agree that the mood is the top one is dreamy and delicious. And the white dusty surface over the cracked earth is top notch!
