My etched glass experiment didn't quite turn out as I planned. Any suggestions?

Looks like you didn't change your index of refraction. Not sure how thats done in Lightwave (I use 3DSMAX). You should have it set to 1.5-1.6. Also glass is almost completely transparent - you need to use reflections and specular highlights to get the effects of glass.
