Description

On a lonely cutoff in northeastern New Mexico, Matt Rudge was making good time down the old highway. Suddenly, the truck's engine and all electrical equipment cut out. As the rig slowed to a stop, the driver felt the hair on his arms and beard stiffen with static electricty. His last memory was of a brilliant white light, followed by a blackness that swallowed him up. He never was even aware of the huge circular shape hovering above the truck. After transporting the unconscious Rudge into the spacecraft, it swiftly ascended into the air, silently slipping beyond the hills. Approximately seven minutes later, the empty tractor's lights switched on and its engine roared back into life. It was still idling when Sheriff's Deputy Roger Ott chanced upon the rig an hour and twelve minutes later. That's odd, thought Deputy Ott, as he pulled up behind the tanker. That idiot driver ought to have pulled off to the side of the road, or at the very least set out some warning reflectors and cones. "This is Ott, he radioed to the dispatcher. "There's tanker stopped in the southbound lane. Lights are on, but no reflectors set out. I'm going to check it out." Approaching the cab, there was no sign of the driver. "Must be sleeping in the back," Ott muttered. He banged on the door. No one stirred within. The deputy tried the door. It was unlocked so he opened it. Climbing up into the cab, he saw that the bunk was empty. An uneasy feeling stirred within him as he left the cab and began a quick look around the immediate area. No crushed grass or footprints to suggest that he left the pavement. After a careful ten-minute search Ott had found no sign of the missing driver. He scratched his forehead in puzzlement. "It's as if the guy vanished into thin air!" Credits: As always rendering in Bryce 5. Deputy: Mike 2, Evan texture, outfit by PoserWorld. Hair DAZ Flattop Hair. Tanker Rig: modeled by G.W.
