A Homage to St. Jerome....
Initially I was going to call this "Avacado Head", but as I was working on it I thought of St. Jerome so I changed my mind on the title. As many out there realize, part of his "symbol" is a skull. (According to my book about Saints his symbol consists of a Skull and an open Bible. A small Church is also emblematic of him.) That's what the Catholics say so it must be true. Sounds good to me. Many are familiar with the famous painting of St. Jerome by Marinus Roejmerswaele(or Remerswaele) of Zeeland, Holland(1943-1567) that features St. Jerome in His Study/Small Church. The painting includes a number of props including a skull, an open Bible, and small interior of a church where he is shown studying.
Why did I put an avacado and marbles in this photo? I don't know...it just happened. I hope no one is offended.
