Description
I have learned a valuable lesson today: Back up your data. I never I thought it would happen to me but something happened to one of my hard drives and I have lost all of the image parameters that I have created for at least the last year, along with renders of my older images. Everything in this gallery is gone.
"Humming Bird" was lost but it's an interesting coincidence that I put the UPR of a stripped down version of it in the fractal forum last night, so at least I didn't loose the bird.
I am not sure how I feel about loosing all of my recent images. Expect for a handful of images, this being one of them, I seldom dig up old ones and re-render them. I lost a lot of flames. I used to be very possessive of those because I thought that they were unique, but not any more. They are all starting to look the same to me.
Sorry about boring you with my sad story ;)
Keith

Oh what a tragedy. Can u use one of the free retrieval progs to try and extract them from the depths of your disc. It happened to me a while ago with some Apo flames... but they weren't as beautiful as yours

It is really a sad story. I always keep my images (or at least I try to) as param files too, zip them and send them via FileSynch (http://www.fileware.com/index.htm) to my second disk. And from time to time I burn a CD - very easy with WinXP. But at first I had to learn the same lesson like you: On Christmas eve while saving a lot of data with my NEW CD burner I lost my C: drive and a few of my images that I forgot to share with my friends... BTW: A very nice image.

It is sad, Keith. I'm sorry. It happened to me a little more than a year ago, so I can empathize. I lost most everything and don't have the original files of anything before October of 2003. It was a lesson hard-learned, but one that has me backing up on a regular basis now. I still have the images in my galleries, but, if I wanted to print one for myself or anyone else, I'd be out of luck. Your image is very beautiful.

Too bad about your hard drive, but with your good artistic sense you should be able to replace them in no time at all. This is very lovely! Well done! V (:

This image has a great sense of depth to it that many fractals lack. ....& sorry about the hard drive loss.

Oh, Keith! I'm so sorry - your loss is also ours, because you set such a high standard of quality, innovation, and design. This image is a perfect example of what sets you apart in the Fractal world.

I am soo sorry Keith, I think I will do some backup making now, which I have been planning to do for some time. Your old images are really precious, for they are a reminder of your learning process. Thanks for the lesson.

A gorgeous image. Sorry about the loss of all those files. I also lost a bunch of recent images and par files when my computer went down, but not nearly as many of mine are gone--just two months worth. I am confident you will make new and just as lovely images in the future.

Beautiful work. Very well done. My advise, buy a DVD burner. Over 4.5 Gigs of backup per disk. Well worth it, It just saved my butt!

I really feel for your Keith. I've lost precious data before and I know it hurts. I backup constantly now. I do know one thing though: Your work continues to evolve in leaps and bounds - your VERY best fractal art is yet to be created.

I am so sorry to hear that and empathize for it happened to me as well (when I downloaded UF 3.05 and installed, it overwrote three month's worth of files that I mistakenly thought were backed up). It still causes my heart to sink when I think about it. Your image today is very beautiful with its soft light and graceful forms and coloring. Excellent!

Cool image, Keith - I like the colors. Bummer you lost your files! Maybe you can retrieve a lot of your upr's from the mailing list archives?

I know the feeling; perhaps this program is worth its cost to you: http://grc.com/spinrite.htm

Lovely jewels on old fashioned Satin. Beautiful. I am sure I have several of your images saved. I don't know if that would help you or not. Your images don't look all the same to me. They are uniquely beautiful and different....each one a delight.

I'm so sorry to hear this. There are some companies that retrieve data, but it can be costly. Don't forget the list db for those that you shared there. best of luck. This is lovely.

Beautiful image, and not bored by story because I have been there. Lost all my fractal parameters and images and only have low quality images that were uploaded to some websites. Your gallery is so gorgeous that I can only image what must have been lost.
