Description
The large crater to the right is 'Gassendi'. Gassendi is a dominating feature on the edge of Mare Humorum. It is a walled plain, 110 km in diameter, with numerous clefts, hills and central peaks on its floor. Three prominent peaks lies at the center of Gassendi. At the north end, the wall has been broken by a smaller crater, Gassendi A. This crater is 33 km in diameter, as deep as 3600 m while the depth of Gassendi is just 1800 m.
Please note that in these images, south is up (as Newtonian telescopes reverse everything)!
