Description

A color photo turned into B&W then into sepia by playing with color balance. Finished with the canvas filter. All of the above done in Photoshop 7. I was going for that 'old illustration' look... For the past couple of days I've been busy preparing for and then taking care of the cutest little baby. I will surely be posting some shots :) On a side and totally dfferent NOTE: Even though I have stopped writing "vote" in my comments, I have not stopped voting. I used to write it not because I wanted the author to know, but because I wanted the other viewers to consider doing the same. I know that opinions on voting and even on the existence of the Hot 20 list is a matter of very lively discussions. I still believe in the whole concept, even though I do have a few ideas for changes :) Anyway, just wanted you guys to know I haven't stopped using that button! :D And now I'm off to do some commenting... :)

youve succeeded with an "old illustration" look! and still with your original sense of style:) the subject you took up - voting - have to admit, i havent gave any vote for months and i havent taken a look to the hot20 for months... i really think everything we present here is too subjective for voting:) also think its good for saving peace here around:)

Yep, the whole voting thing is garbage. I don't even bother anymore. I just try to comment on the images I like. It's a good thing that I like all of yours! I am gonna have to try the canvas look myself sometime soon...I like it a lot!

For me.. a VOTE is an excellent that requires further recognition. Excellent is (for me) a deep appreciation of someone's efforts (sometimes given because of bias towards that person's personality). I don't vote for politicians as a rule (on a clause of non-citizenship in the country I live in) so 'voting' has a different meaning... that I created myself! I do support people who I admire as part of my appreciation. I don't always 'excellent' my friends... if I dislike an occasion of their work I don't comment at all. That's just me. Some 'helpful comments' for 'improving an image'would require extensive comment going into technical alterations that seem a waste of time to iterate... sometimes I'm amazed people post what they do! (sometimes when I look at old images in my gallery I think the same thing!) I guess I'm not as smart as I think I am. The things this picture has going for it in my opinion is the 'environmental art' look... the clouds have become interesting dapples on the canvas... the trees are very attractive with the detailed 'gold leaf' look. I find the overall composition pleasing. Well done!

Gorgeous shot, for me the arbor translation of Michelangelo's painting of the hands of God and man touching each other!

I love not only the tone of this picture, but the texture as well. Ditto jcy2's comment. Excellent!

It's amazing how you achieved this effect. When I first saw it, before reading your introduction, I had impression I had seen it before. There it was, in my very old edition of The Secret Garden.Maybe not identical but the mood, the style remains the same

First of all, I think you have achieved your goal for the "old Illustration" look! I LOve it!! On the other hand, I had gone to the top 20 two days ago for the first time since I joined Rendo, only because someone made a comment abt it. I see it as a popularity vote more than a vote for exceptional photographic technique. But I digress...today's photographer has more tools in the bag than when I first started shooting. Idiot proof cameras that do everything for you perfectly except compose the image is the norm these days. I always vote for exceptional photographic technique and composition...even though I may not say it in the comments. None of the images I vote for never make it to the top 20...just one of those things that make ya go huh...however logiloglu and cynlee seem to be the exception! []/;^)
