Description

Brocken Spectre. ~@~ Yip its real. To see this sort of effect you have to be in the right place at the right time (and have a good bit of luck). If your up high, and the sun is low on one side, and there is low cloud on the other side, your shadow is cast onto the cloud causing this type of circular rainbows. The rainbows are centred on your own POV and seem to radiate from your shadow. If the conditions are right, this can get really intense with 4 or 5 complete bows around a very bright centre. If you raise your arms, the shadows from your finger tips stream into the centre almost like a laser-show. So if your ever up a hill in Scotland and see someone flapping their arms at the top and hollering like a loopy.... you might know why!!

That is so amazing. It wasn't a couple months ago that I learned about different types of rainbows, but not this one. Great shot!

So that's what's going on... thought they were the scottish airforce!!! LOL. This is the sort of wonderful stuff you discover when you mix climbing and photography! EXCELLENT presentation.

Fascinating - I've only seen one, from an airplane, and it didn't contain so mant bows. So strange - the colors are in the reverse order from a rainbow.
