Well Claymore, I've got to give you some bad news. Windsor Castle never looked like this in the times when knights in armour existed. The Castle was extensively re-vamped by a famous architect back in the 19th cenury (I believe) turning it from a pretty mundane and boring building to the fantasy we see today. I know this because after the great fire of about 5 years ago, the repair and refurbishment included a stained-glass window commissioned by the royal family commemorating those who helped rescue valuable works of art while the castle burnt. Now, it is well known that Prince Philip (Husband to our Queen) hated what the said architect had done with the place. So part of the stained glass window depicts Prince Philip removing a portrait of the guy from the castle - thereby removing in kind the architect's presence. This is seen as both an insult to the architect (long since dead) and a very subtle joke on the part of Prince Philip. Hope all this makes sense. ;-)
