Description

No postwork here. Running on a barebones version of PP9 DCE, so the fancy schmancy stuff is going to have to wait. A view of the main feature at Stone Mountain Park near Atlanata, Georgia. Namely, the mountain of stone... granite to be exact. This is a view of the face of the mountain which the cable cars ascend. This feature is over 800 feet high. Seka, this was a very overcast day with rain just around the corner. That is one explanation for the gray overall effect. Also, this is the site of a Confederate memorial.... it has to be gray! (Be honest, how many of you saw that one coming?) Interestingly, the rock is covered in lichen, and these also add their color to the massive rock. Cynlee, the original sculpture was to entail at least 1,000 figures to the same scale as the horsemen. A virtual army to march along the outcrop. Also, same sculpturer sculptor as Mount Rushmore, at least initially. He left in a huff when plans kept changing. Time to move on to some other features in this very unusual, worth a visit, park. Enjoy; thanks for viewing.

The view from the top is wonderful and the walk up it is something else. There is a trail that you can walk up the mountain. At night they have a laser light show on the side of the mountain that is really something!
