Description

While wandering around Lucca, I spotted this interesting, ornate door. Beyond that half open door lay a courtyard. I did not step in but the courtyard had me intrigued! Medieval towns are full of surprises!! I wonder what the inscription 'IHS' on the arch means. Has it some religious significance or is it simply the initials of the owner? Any comments?

I'm unable to answer your question... Anyway these old stones are still so pleasant to look at that we can accept a bit of mystery... Your shots loook more and more professional every day... I'll vote for this one...

Wonderful! Majestic! Impresive! You have had the same difficulty I find everywhere: here and there are always scaffolds, cranes, traffic signals and I don't no what... spoiling the shot. Oh, Lord! Is it the same in the north of Europe or is it only in our meridional countries? Anyway: Wonderful! Majestic! Impresive!

ciao Sures !!! IHS could be : I Hate School but i believe more probable : Iesus Hominum Salvator (Latin: Jesus, Savior of Men) HUGS, Clara
