thanks for all the great comments on previous pictures, they are very much appreciated :) the spaceship in this picture was renderd about 2 years ago( xfractint) but i had no idea what to do with it and so it resided in my files until now, along with all the other strange and wonderful (and apparently useless) renders which appear from time to time. thank you for taking the time to view. :)

Cool image - I like the bright colors and the psychedelic '60's vibe. Is this made with the 24bit color version of Fractint? Its the first image I've seen from that version - I was "DOS impaired" and always used Winfract which was just 256 colors. Nice one!

it's made with a combination of xfractint (the spaceships) and gimp's fractal explorer plug-in for the background. fractint only does single renders, so the spaceship is a single render (as is tartan rose)but the background is a composite of several layerd renders (pretty much as you can do in ultra fractal).
