Wow, what an eruption. Nature can be incredible. I wouldn't want to be so close there, no way. But i must admit, an impressive shot.

Poor guy who lives next door. And the many relocated over the years.Once regarded as an "Emerald" Isles of the Caribean.Drew a wealth of tourists. My father was also a filmaker/cameraman, he took my brother and I as boys to Montserrat 30 years ago to take pictures of the hotsprings that once flourished in a then dormant volcano. There was a treacherous road our hire cab took that wound up very close to the springs the trip up and then somewhat down into the volcano was about 3 1/2 miles. The vivid noxious smell of sulfur comes back to memory after being forced to spend the night there.

i hope you were a safe distance away! I just watched an IMAX movie last weekend called 'Forces of Nature' (narrated by Kevin Beacon) and one of the focuses was on volcanoes - the Montserrat volcanoe, and how the scientists were trying to keep a watch on it and warn the local population about erruptions (very successfully, too). Amazing photo!
