Description

My entry into Nicholas86's reality challenge. This scene was inspired by a recent visit we made to Leavenworth, Washington, which is a small Bavarian style vacation town in the Cascade mountains. It was late morning on a very overcast day and there was a break in the fog which revealed a small glimpse of the mountain ridge line above town. Thanks for taking the time to look and as always, comments and criticisms are always appreciated. The scene was originally composed in C3 but because I could not resist loading C4 as soon as it arrived, the final tweaking and final render was done in C4 (though it could have been done just as well in C3).

I'm curious about the banding in the sky... is that where the 'sun was breaking through the clouds'? Nice image. I like the way the mist obscures the lower trees on the mountainside.

Yes, the band of light is actually a light cone from a spot focused on the group of trees on the right. I turned the turbulance on the light cone up as much as possible but still could not get a streaming effect.
