Description
I cant seem to get these caustics right. Enhanced High Antialiasing, and 6.5 hours of rendering, with every ray traced option available applied. Any Ideas?

im not sure about lightwave but i could do this in truespace on medium quality scan line,i dont know what youre doing wrong but i think its time to drag out the manual and start from scratch,would haveing a floor and walls help the raytracing or am i wrong there to....i dont know what would help

Something weird is going on here, because the stem of the goblet is giving off some sort of illusion, like it's trying to be both an inside and outside surface. First thing I'd do is find a free goblet/wineglass object somewhere, then start playing with the surface properties until you get a glass surface you like. After that, then try the air surface/glass surface/air surface trick, which I take it is the ghost around the goblet. If I recall correctly, newtekniques had a good tutorial on glass, or try looking elsewhere on the web for LW specific glass tuts. Hope this helps...

not sure what all you did. After you lathed it, did you copy the object to a new layer, flip the polys, and then paste it back into the original layer? Something I saw at www.mgfx.net. Check the lw 6.5 tut there.

where is the caustic?

I'm having trouble w/ caustics too...I use lw 6.5 and have never gotten them to do anything! if someone out there reads this......HELP!
