Another shot, that makes me want to travel. I read, voraciouslessly, all the Arthur Ransome stories when I was about 10 years old, over 40 years ago. I loved the portrayal, in those books, of the freedom to play, to adventure with like minded boys and girls, with little adult intervention. Nothing could have been further from my reality - poor, working class Motherwell in deepest. darkest Lanarkshire, full of steel works, coal mines, railway lines, bings, run down housing, and grey men and women.
