Description

These photos are not very good. I don't have a good camera. But I think you can see them well enough, I hope. Hope you enjoy seeing this. Several weeks ago, on a Saturday, when my husband was checking fence, he came upon this bull snake stuck in a hole in this fence brace. He kept wiggling and struggling to get out, but did not make it. We checked on him later in the day and he was still there. Each day I checked on him every morning and late afternoon. In the morning he was very sluggish and hardly moved, probably due to the coolness of the nighttime temperature. By afternoon he had warmed up enough to continue his struggle. When I approached he would raise up and watch me as he repeatedly stuck out his tongue. We have no idea when he got himself into this situation. We guessed that he had crawled into the square tube seeking possibly a mouse, ate it, and then he was too large to squeeze out of one of the holes. Fortunately, it did not freeze any of those nights. By the middle of the week it appeared he was making some progress. Six days later, Friday morning, he really had managed to get more of his body out. By Friday afternoon, he was gone. So it took six or more days for him to sufficiently digest whatever he ate to enable him to extract himself.

This could be a metaphore. "Don't bite off more than you can chew"? "Don't eat something when your in a hole"? "Don't drink a twelve pack and leave comments on peoples posts."?
