Description

This was taken at the Memphis Zoo in Tennessee. I don't think that I can go to another zoo again and feel good about it. I kinda got turned off. The animals just seemed so sad, and I can see why. thanks....

I know how you feel...the zoo here has slowly dissapeared as the animals in it either passed away or were donated to other zoos...such a shame to see a magnificent, intelligent animal as this locked up...a shot full of emotion.

Excellent composition - I especially love the tonality in the ape's coat and the stone wall.

Hey Tammy I know how you feel. The exact same thing happened to me. I haven't been back to a zoo since 1984 when I was at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, and photographed a silver back male who looked so depressed that I cried when I saw my contact sheet. What is the answer? The parks, and zoo try to care for, and preserve the species, but it all seems too cruel. BTW great shot, and thanks for all you do at R.
