Description

AFTER A NICE WEEKLONG VACATION, I AM BACK. I MISSED YOU ALL, AND WILL TRY MY BEST TO PLAY CATCH-UP ON ALL YOUR WORKS. IN THE MEANTIME, HERE IS THE NEXT SEGMENT OF CHAPTER 3. HAPPY READING! HUGGLES ~HEATHER~ The morning sun brought the sounds of birds chirping and singing, as Jianna rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Soft rays of sun streamed in through the blinds from the sole window in the room, giving everything a faint glow. She looked over at her brother who was still fast asleep, and quietly slipped out of bed. She crept over to the window and peeked through the blinds out into the front yard. A young squirrel was playing chase with an acorn from the large oak tree on the lawn, busily pushing it around as he tried to get it in his paws so he could put it in his mouth. Over near the driveway a family of red robins was feasting on a fresh worm they had dug up from the soft earth. All around her, the world seemed beautiful. For the first time, she noticed the world through eyes without a haze. There was nothing blocking her view; no pain, no frustrations, no fear. She was finally able to see all the beauty she had blocked out for so long and she longed to rejoice in it. Tiptoeing, she crept out of her room, closing the door quietly behind her so as to not wake her still sleeping brother. She wandered down the hall into the dining room where the rest of the family was already sitting. Aunt Mary was at one end of the table, Uncle John in his place at the other end, with Gus and Tiny seated on the left side. Jianna slid into her chair across from Tiny, and waited for her food. The scent of pancakes drifted from the kitchen, and her stomach growled. Aunt Mary laid the plate before her, and she hungrily dove in. She didn

As an older brother of five dear sisters, any of whom I would give my life for, this piece hit home. Just a superbly written piece. Vote.

I agree this was an excellent addition to the others as I have read them all, and yes, I am hooked. Terrific writing, also I have a twin so I know what it is like to grow up close to a brother or sisterAlso I had a near drowning incident twice when I was younger. Once in a pond, and then once in a lake, the pond my mother saved my life and in the lake, my brother saved my life... Not that he wanted too or tried too or even knew I was drowning he was just there close enough to me and we did this me panicking and grasping onto him and him trying to get me off of him routine bobbing up and down till we were both in land enough to touch bottom again thing.. Laugh out loud. Sorry for dragging you through that and yes I can swim now too. Thank you for this addition of writing to your story I will be eagerly waiting for more.

Wow, Heather, this is a brilliant telling of something that must have been quite traumatic for you. When I was six years old, I drowned (fortunately there was a doctor nearby with his family and he was able to revive me). Although I don't recall the event, I have since had dreams that my brother was holding my ankle under the water and the surface was just inches away from my outstretched hand, but terrifyingly unreachable. I now believe that is is probably what actually happened. As you can imagine, as a result, your story spoke volumes to me. Excellent work!
