Description

The other day Cora (aka "cagewench") was asking me why I hadn't written anything in a while. I told her I've been to busy lately, and it got me too thinking, when have I ever been too busy to write? I found a quiet moment at work today, and did what I usually do: open up notepad, and start typing what was in my head. The wind here is representative of the business I've been under lately. ------------------------------------------- The steady cold wind whips around me, tugging at my jacket, and begging me to go play. It feels as solid as the ground below me, so I step up to climb into the wind. Instead, my foot sinks right through and lands back on the ground. I leap into the wind, expecting it to carry me away, and yet I fall back to the ground again. The wind tugs at my jacket again, so I follow it. My hair is tossed into my face and I cannot see, but I still follow the wind. It tugs at me to go faster, so I break into a gallop. It tugs at me to go yet faster, so I sprint along. Yet faster, I am running but it feels like I am going nowhere. The steady beat of my feet pounds in sync with my heart and it speaks to me like the rhythm of a drum. I listen and it tells me to trust the wind. I leap into the air again, and never hit the ground. The breeze carries me off to distant lands where my wildest dreams exist. In one land I am the ninja, dutifully carrying out my orders with honor. In another I am the wizard, keeping peasants and kings at awe. I float through these worlds until I find that I am just the wind, playing with the leaves. It is there that I stay, and will come back again when I am good and ready.
