Symbolism is what is familar and yet unknown, the mundane becomes alien, nonsense becomes both meaningful and significant. See a world in a grain of sand.
BIO"Digital Grey" is the name I go by online when displaying artwork, mostly on the web gallery Renderosity. I have worked as graphic designer previously, this was for a local printing company. While there I saw the incredible potential for graphics software and what it was possible to achieve. I emphasis the word potential, as I felt frustrated with the firm's refusal to push the boundaries. All too often layouts were repetitive and visually boring. Clients were left with sloppy sub standard clipart imagery and when the "big disc of clipart" failed it was time to image search google and flout legal and ethical guidelines. Time was never budgeted for the provision of orginal artwork and anything even slightly different or challenging was rejected. I felt I couldn't breathe creatively and as you can imagine I had altercations with the owner, so things ended badly.
This is not a oppurtunity to vent my fustrations, it's just a bit of background on me as a designer. It is my sincere belief that shoddy design practises damage the industry in general and everyone who receives such work. Design or art for me is a labour of love and I sincerly believe that the end party should get the best result possible.
Right now that one is out of the way, so what of me as a Individual? Well I won't bore you with detail here (hopefully). I am currently studying at Newry City Institute, (the course is called Foundation Degree in Interactive Multimedia). Which I am enjoying immensly. I suppose my drive core belief is in perstience, if you want something push for it, and push for it hard. Even when the world kicks you, and the world kicks hard. You just gotta get up and tell yourself it's worth it, even going to college was a victory of sorts. All i'm gonna say is some people stood in my way and I had to fight to be standing here. Anyway enough of all that, why don't you go to the gallery and explore further.

Very strong work - fighting those who would control those who would stay/be free. How to live in the world. Well done.

But do we ever listen? I have noticed that, even on this 'art' site, that anyone who consistantly displays images that are strong against or questioning of the current administration (did I say current?....will they ever go awy now?) is banned from the site. It is almost as if these days we must guard every word and fear the darkness under the bed. 'Reds' have been replaced by 'terrorists' and apparently we are either for them or against them (a very biblical quote). What ever happened to the colour grey? It has become synomynous with fear.

Is this the same George Orwell who talked about 'telescreens' controlled by the 'ministry of love' which put forth propaganda and spied on the viewers? Maybe georgie was talking about my computer! ....or maybe even this very page..hmmm

Great work, and I agree with your sentiment. It's a shame that the Christian Right don't have the foresight to realize what they're doing - or do they? I just hope I'm gone by the time the sh** hits the fan.

This piece encapsulates all of my own frustrations with regards to the direction America is headed. Fear and hatred as tools for political gain. Fundamental Christians may one day destroy the world...Christ himself would be appalled that the people who love him the most are the most intolerant breed...this image is top notch with regards to quality and content. Bravo! I guess no-one told dougocd or captor213 that propaganda comes fromt the powers that be, not some joe who is exercising fee speech.

Fee speech...haha classic.

Powerful, dramatic image, with nice use of shadows & transparency. There are so many things to be afraid of, aren't there? It used to be communists & hippies - now it's terrorists, moslems, liberals, the hollywood elite, environmentalists, gays & lesbians, etc., etc. By all means, let's not learn, evolve or progress beyond what a 2,000 year old book tells us to believe...

What a bullshit ! If western civilization looses its will to oppose the fundamentalists and terrorists - we are all doomed. Maybe Bush should offer to Saddam a nuclear reactor as stupid French did ??? (Fortunately Israelis browned it up in 80's )

My dear little child...The war on Iraq was a mere distraction, for Bush's ineptattempts to find Bin Laden

You know, I've got mixed reactions to this piece. I agree and disagree with the reality of its message. But, as a concept and implimentation of such I think its an incredibly fine piece of work. That, is the essence, imho of a great illustration...the ability to make us think. Great job! -jay

Everything fits just right with this. It has the simple directness of the best propaganda using all the best relevant components for your message. Of course, I also happen to agree with the message... ;-) Like to see more like this!

Perect love casts out fear. Let us be loyal to Love. Jesus Christ said, the two greatest commandments are these, Love the Lord, your God with all your heart, and your neighbor as yourself. If people would do these two things there would be no wars. the trouble is, much of the world hates Jesus. And so it goes, on and on...
