Description

My latest work in 3D Studio Max. I used the shag fur plugin for the fur on the rat. The rat is a little plump because it's sitting on it's lifting itself up putting more wieght on the back legs. It also eats alot of worms. =P I would like a good critque. Thanks

Wow dude! That worm looks real! I love the bump textures on the rust in the background and the rat looks really cool too. Are you using MAX 2.5? Maybe more density on the fur effect might make it look more real? -Just a suggestion. That pic rocks!

Thanks, I had another person say that the hair could be more dense also. I'll give it a try and see what it's like. I also want to fix the big pipe up front, I don't think this one looks good

The worm is purely disgusting!!.... But I like it. This is great. I'm used to posting solid models, Its nice to see organic art!! Brilliant achievment. Get a glint in that rats eye!

Good critique? Hell, I'll give it a go. Fur on the rat? Good but too thin, more fur please. Not keen on the pipes, the foreground one is too low poly and undefined, and the background one has texture warping. Also the pipe and ground texture are instantly recogniseable from max's standard texure libary. Check out some of the cool texture tutorials from www.dvgarage.com they're great, and can help lift your images. The worm is fantastic, maybe a little too pale? But that's just me having an artistic difference. Overall? Excellent work, well done!

Nice work. I've not looked at a rat that close before so to me it looks excellent - not sure about the red eyes. Agree that it could use a few more polys in the forground items but that's a nit - Max rocks!

Excellent work!!! As for critique- yeah the fur could be a little thicker & the pipe in the foreground could use some more polys- I really like the red eyes, if they were a little glossier I think it would make the rat look even more evil. But like brschmidt these are all just nits- your composition is most excellent- keep up the great work!!!

i am in no way a profesional but have viewed many an artwork and I think tha if you could, make the hairs positioned randomly and kind of facing towards it tail end. :) Great Image!! Amazing!

Hello. thanx again for comments on my last image (yellow figure on red) Good critique = eye should be more shinny, Worm less. Worm should be darker. If you seen one, you will remember that these earthworms are translucent, in dim orange? and solid color is given by mud thats inside worm. I think using nonlinear fallof map should do the trick, and noise (red/brown) map for diffuse color too. Keep up good work.

PS. something tells me, that they also wore helmets, grenades and machineguns, but i think it was just in one computer game... :D
