Description
"With the shattering of the crown, the skeletal army scattered. Through field and town, thicket and forest, the Legion hunted down the undead and peace was restored to Northsea... though the shadows of Zrie's presence would remain for some while longer."
Well, thats it, 12/12, the end of the planned series. This image is a bit different in style to what's gone before, but hey, what's the point of doing the same thing over and over again ;) The idea for the image came from the horror movies when, at the end, everything appears good, and then something happens, a hand comes up through the ground, or a slight breeze gives away the hint that all is not quite over. It's also an experiment with "Drawbridgep" lighting... note to self - don't use semi-transparent leaves with multiple soft shadow lights... huge render times result, though you do get some impressive control over the lighting.
For those that like statistics, here is the abridged cast and credit list for the series.

Holy Mother of Chrome! You continually blow me away with your work...have you considered creating an online graphic novel to go with these?

A monumental ending - couldn't be otherwise for such an incredibly hard-worked series. applauds so, considering making another one? you've got yourself quite a hungry audience here! :D we want more! Excellent!
drawbridgep
:-) An experiment in DrawbridgeP lighting. I'm honoured. Not sure what it is though. No sun I'm guessing. Anyway, it is a fantastic piece, well worthy of all the votes it's getting. Time to start a new series then? Good luck.
Rochr

Damn fine. You can almost smell the humus, leaves, dirt, and water. For God's sake put some rust on the helmet and tomahawk. Stainless steel wasn't invented until the 20th century. Reminds me of a time in when I thought I heard a cat while gold panning. Turns out is was some woman yelling for help as she was about to be swept away.
Flak
GG - you're spot on, but here the stainless steel look was "artistic" license to get a bit of "shine/glow" off the helmet. The axe kept going invisble next to the leaf litter when rusty, which was mildy annoying, so it was left clean as well. LOL at the goldpanning in an apparent raging torrent :)

What an end to a fantastic series Flak!!! I like how the boy is looking.....as if he feels a presence, or some evil lurking in the woods. When does the next series start? :-) Brian

I've followed this series since Siege, and love the entire series. I come back every few months and hope to see a new entry in the series. It's sad that it's over, but I really enjoyed the last piece. What a great ending to the best themed series of digital art I've seen yet. ____ I just looked at it close after reading the stainless steel comment, and noticed the mushroom are the same bone color as the skeleton. I thought it might have been a mistake, but then I remembered your reference to horror movies' villains coming back in the end : is this a suggestion of that? I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned, but it's key to the intent of the piece, I think : since when I originally viewed the piece, I thought it was a reflective scene, suggeting that life goes on even after many heroic people fought and died for the future (represented by the boy and unspolied nature). But after reading your horror movie reference, it makes all the difference if those mushrooms are being tainted by the skeleton. But I can't see any other hints of the evil coming back other than that (I may be blind, of course, and the boy's look could be one of foreboding, but it's ambiguous). Thanks again for the entire story!

Excellent and very beautiful picture.....!!!! (( V ))

Yes, I read the whole thing! Although I haven't commented on every image in the series, you know that I HAVE commented on many in chat, and watched pretty much the whole series progress through that one little padded room we call Rosity Chat! An excellent close to a long project, although I am a bit sad to see it ended! And by the way, there's nothing wrong with your mental state! You're not crazy, its all the rest of the voices that are! Thanks for taking us on an amazing ride of fine images, and hope to see more of their like! Cheers, Jesse!
