hmmmm found this on the hard drive just now while looking for something else. forgot all about it! at the time, this wasn't anything like what i was sposed to be doing so i put it aside for later, and later apparently never happened.
in any event, now that its rested for almost a year (!) and i see it again with somewhat fresher eyes -- hey, i kinda like it! maybe we'll finish it up after all :-)
