I have to admit, this character has completely captivated me. Her name is Carrie Strong. She is 24 and the youngest Police Detective in her precincts history. Her father was a beat cop and her mother a forensics expert. She has a brilliant mind and is a physical marvel. A martial arts expert, she can easily handle 9 out of 10 opponents without exerting herself. Her mastery of weapons is second to none. And, to top it all off, she has a physical beauty that would shame most fashion models. But, Carrie has a problem. She has a dark side that threatens to consume her. At the age of 14, Carrie lost both parents. They were executed. The case was never solved, the murderers never brought to justice. This has eaten at Carrie every day of her life. Carrie is a disturbed woman. She goes about her work in a cold, detached, unemotional way that has earned her nicknames such as Ice Queen, Cyber Cop, and worse. She rarely smiles, seems to lack a sense of humor, and has no room for companionship in her life. Her dedication to fighting crime and, more specifically, finding and "bringing to justice" her parents murders, borders on an all consuming obsession. This has driven her to cross the line and act outside the bounds of the law in a secret vigilante crusade. There is one person in her solitary life, however. Carrie has an 18 year old sister. Nothing is more dear to Carrie than her sister - not even life. Only her sister can make her smile, only her sister can sooth the pain which consumes her, only her sister keeps her from becoming a vengeful, killing machine. This character has become real to me. I can see her life, feel her pain, and share her thoughts. I'm sure she will show up from time to time.
